with Gary Williams,
University of Maryland Head Men's Basketball Coach;
2002 NCAA Champions
As coach of the 2002 NCAA championship
team, 25 wins in the NCAA tournament, and an overall winning
percentage of .641, Gary Williams has learned to master and
implement a winning offense: The Flex. In this video, Williams uses
on-court demonstration to coach and teach a winning Flex Offense.
With emphasis on the half-court offense, Williams goes through a
step-by-step process, guidelines, and multiple principles and plays
for successfully executing the Flex. He shows how to create and
maintain proper spacing and positioning, utilize on and off the ball
movement, and perfect perimeter and post-entry passing; this
includes effective screens, basket cuts, post flashes, and attacking
the overplay. He then goes through multiple Flex sets and special
plays to break down the defense and create scoring opportunities
against straight man-to-man defense, switches, and pressure defense,
including late-game situations. In addition, Williams shares
counters that can be used to combat various defenses. Use this video
to master the Flex offense to help build a winning team and
tradition!
