The Hotbat Bat Bag is the only baseball/softball bat bag on the market
designed to help protect your bats in adverse weather conditions and to
dramatically improve the performance of your bats. The Hotbat Bat Bag
includes removable heat packs that provide portable heat to your bats
which increases your bat's performance.
The Hotbat Bat Bag is constructed of three layers of material to provide
optimum performance and durability. The outer shell is made of water
resistant heavy duty 1000 Denier Nylon with a coating of polyurethane on
the inner side of the nylon. This is the same material that high grade
luggage is constructed of. The middle layer consists of closed cell foam
material to provide a superior layer of insulation and padding. The inner
layer is constructed of a high-tech material comprised of a heavy duty
waterproof vinyl laminated with aluminized Mylar®. This inner layer
retains and reflects the heat inside of the bag providing a heat shield to
the cold outside air. Two pockets are built into the bag which can be used
to hold personal items or in cooler weather to hold the removable heat
packs.
The Hotbat Bat Bag has an adjustable carrying strap and a swivel hook for
hanging the bag on a chain link fence. The bag holds 3 softball bats or 2
baseball bats and comes in a choice of colors (BLACK, RED and ROYAL
BLUE).

We found the Hotbat Bat Warmer to
exceed our expectations. The exterior shell is constructed of the same
durable Nylon that many equipment bags are made of. The adjustable shoulder
strap makes it comfortable to carry fully loaded with 3 softball bats. The
stitching provides strong seams that will not easily fray or tear. Three
bats fit snugly into the warmer, preventing the possibility of the bats
moving around inside and becoming damaged.
We both noticed a considerable
difference between the hot and cold bat in terms of feel throughout our
batting practice session. We both experienced frequent vibration with the
cold bats and none with the warm bats. That seemed to validate the
manufacturers claim that by heating the bat, the sweet spot is enlarged. I
noticed a big difference in the jump off the warmed bat compared to the cold
bat. The other hitter commented that he felt like the ball was jumping off
the warmed bat. We both noticed about a 20 foot increase in distance of the
grouping of balls batted with the warm bats.
We did inspect our bats for damage
after our hitting session. We did not recognize any stress related
fractures or dents in our warmed bats. We did obliterate one of our cold
bats which can be expected when using any aluminum bat in 40° temperatures.
We were very pleased to find that
after the drive to the park, the hour wait, the hour of hitting and the
drive back home that the bats were still warm and well above the 60°
Fahrenheit recommended use temperature of the bats.
Our Recommendation
The Hotbat Bat Warmer is an ideal product for anyone who swings an
aluminum bat, especially in cold weather. While we did not test the bat
warmer on wood or composite bats, we do feel like we can validate the
manufacturers claims of increased performance and durability in respect to
the aluminum bats we tested. The purchase price is reasonable when you
consider it against the cost of replacing today's expensive technologically
advanced bats. We would enthusiastically recommend this product to anyone
who wants to protect their bat investments.
